About New American Youth Ballet

Small classes, personal attention, kind, positive and expert teaching make New American Youth Ballet the most caring and correct ballet experience in New York City. Enjoy a unique and beautiful location surrounded by lovely gardens. "The little school with the big heart." Your child will learn in a creative professional environment that nurtures natural talents.

The program is expertly directed by Elizabeth Flores, who was voted 2008 Dance Teacher of the Year by Dance Teacher Magazine. She trained with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and Juilliard School of Music. Elizabeth was previously head of Summer Dance at Ballet Academy East and Artistic Director of the Harkness Youth Ballet of the 92nd Street Y.

Bonnie and Elizabeth Fernandez founded New American Youth Ballet in 1997 after an original ballet presented at Carnegie Hall.

What people are saying about New American Youth Ballet

“I cannot emphasize enough how much I admire and enthusiastically recommend Elizabeth Fernandez at both personal and professional levels. Her attention to detail is stunning. She provides such rich contexts…from costumes and props to historical background, so that students might “enter” the story they tell."

Susan Grossman Nieves
Director of The Dalton After School

“I have seen Elizabeth’s work with children and I have been impressed and in awe of her skills. She possesses a special and sincere rapport with them that is rare in a person so young. She has the heart of a child and a trusted role model.”

“Elizabeth utilizes original songs to teach ballet in a delightful style that captures the attention and imagination of children of all ages.”
